29 CFR 1904.7(b)(3): When an injury or illness involves one or more days away from work, the employer must record the number of calendar days away from work in the number of days column. If the employee is out for an extended period of time, you must enter an estimate of the days that the employee will be away, and update the day count when the actual number of days is know: The employer did not record the correct number of days away from work, resulting from work-related injuries or illnesses, on the OSHA 300 Log for the calendar year 2018. On or about November 26, 2018, a recordable injury occurred when an employee suffered an amputation, resulting in days away from work. The employee was given days away from work and was recorded as restrictions, without a contemporaneous medical opinion, by an authoritative physician or other licensed health care professional.
