Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a. On or about May 22, 2018, employees working in the Press Department were exposed to the hazard of being caught in rotating parts while operating the Minster Press, Machine Number R-09, Model Number 40E-11, Serial Number 40E11-5013, because the employer had not provided adequate machine guarding. b. On or about May 22, 2018, an employee working in the Maintenance Department was exposed to the hazard of being caught in rotating parts while operating the Hardinge Lathe, Model Number HLV-EM, because the employer had not provided adequate machine guarding. THE NTN-BOWER CORPORATION WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS EQUIVALENT STANDARD 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1), WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 1288568, CITATION NUMBER 1, ITEM NUMBER 1 AND WAS AFFIRMED AS A FINAL ORDER ON APRIL 27, 2018, WITH RESPECT TO A WORKPLACE LOCATED AT 711 N BOWER ROAD, MACOMB, ILLINOIS 61455.
