29 CFR 1926.760(a)(1): Each employee engaged in a steel erection activity who is on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge more than 15 feet (4.6 m) above a lower level was not protected from fall hazards by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, positioning device systems, or fall restraint systems: (a) On or about March 23, 2018 and at times prior, employees were exposed to injuries from falls, while installing metal roof decking on a commercial building without the benefit of fall protection systems being in place. An employee fell approximately 22 feet to the lower working surface, resulting in the employee sustaining fatal injuries. Montes Construction, LLC was previously cited for a violation of 29 C.F.R. � 1926.501(b)(1), the equivalent fall protection standard for non-steel erection activities (See OSHA Inspection Number 1288055, Citation Number 1, Item Number 2). This violation was affirmed as a final order on February 12, 2018, with respect to a workplace located at 279 S. Purcell Blvd, Pueblo, CO.
