Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.651(c)(2): A stairway, ladder, ramp or other safe means of egress was not located in trench excavations that were 4 feet (1.22m) or more in depth so as to require no more than 25 feet (7.62m) of lateral travel for employees: (a) On or about September 16, 2017 and at times prior thereto: the employer did not provide two employees a safe means of egress while working in an excavation approximately 6 feet deep with nearly vertical walls and within a foot of a two way road with heavy traffic traveling at 40 mph. NOTE: Abatement certification and documentation IS required for this item. MDM Construction, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard which was contained in OSHA inspection number 459376, citation number 2, item number 1 and was affirmed as final order on March 14, 2013, with respect to a workplace located at 5675 Government Way, Coeur D'Alene, ID 83814.
