Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.147(a)(2)(ii)(B): An employee was required to place a part of his or her body into an area on a machine or piece of equipment where work was actually performed upon the material being processed (point of operation) or where an associated danger zone existed during a machine operating cycle. For the employees operating the extruding machine and cutting machine on or about August 9, 2017 and times prior there to, the extruder operators are required to clear excess material build up from the cutter machine with a cycling cutting blade. This exposes employees to the hazard of amputation from an automatically cycling cutting blade. Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard 29 CFR 1910.147(a)(2)(ii)(B), which was contained in OSHA Inspection number 1192467, Citation number 1, Item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on April 24, 2017 with respect to the workplace located at 801 North Jefferson Street, Springdale, Arkansas 72764.
