Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.252(b)(2)(iii): Workers and other persons adjacent to the welding area were not protected from the rays by noncombustible or flameproof screens or shields: a) On or about June 13, 2017, at the main plant in welding shop, employees were welding at numerous work stations and not utilizing welding screens or shields. Employees working and walking in this area were exposed to an arc flash burn to the eyes. b) On or about June 14, 2017, at the Art street plant in the detail aisle, an employee was welding at a permanent welding station and was not utilizing welding screens or shields. Employees working and walking in this this area were exposed to arc flash burn to the eyes. The Hirschfeld Industries was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.252(b)(2)(iii) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 315631226, citation number 1, item number 7, and was affirmed as a final order on April 30, 2013 with respect to a workplace located at 2901 Old Ballinger Highway, San Angelo TX.
