Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.215(b)(9): The distance between the abrasive wheel periphery(s) and the adjustable tongue or the end of the safety guard peripheral member at the top exceeded one fourth inch: a) Shop Area; On or about February 1, 2017 and at times prior thereto the employer exposed employees to struck-by hazards in that they were required to operate a bench grinder with the tongue guard missing. Kumi Manufacturing Alabama, LLC was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.215(b)(9), which was contained in OSHA inspection number #470418.015, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on September 9, 2012, with respect to a workplace located at 2543 7th Street South, Clanton AL 35046.
