Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): Each employee(s) engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels were not protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system, nor were employee(s) provided with an alternative fall protection measure under another provision of paragraph 1926.501 (b). Location: Jobsite. Employees were exposed to a 34 foot fall hazard while working on a roof, where fall protection had not been used. An employee fell over 30 feet to the ground below and sustained fatal injuries from a residential roof where fall protection had not been used. Rockwell Roofing, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.501(b)(10) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 960229, citation number 01, item number 01 and was affirmed as a final order on 5/14/2014, with respect to a workplace located at Wal-Mart, 420 Buckland Hill Drive, Manchester, CT 06042.
