Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.147(c)(4)(i): Procedures shall be developed, documented and utilized for the control of potentially hazardous energy when employees are engaged in the activities covered by this section. Thermoplastics department, injection molding machines (e.g. LG GoldStar no. 125): on or about November 8, 2016, machine-specific hazardous energy control (lockout tagout) procedures were not developed, documented, and utilized in the workplace for servicing and maintenance tasks. Employees were exposed to caught-in hazards likely to result in serious injury when performing repairs and/or setup tasks in the point-of-operation the while machine remained energized with a bypassed safety interlock. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d). The Suburban Plastics Co. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.147(c)(4)(i), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1075620, citation number 01, item number 001 and was affirmed as a final order on October 5, 2015, with respect to a workplace located at 1000 Enterprise Drive, Grenada, MS 38901.
