Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: Production area - On or about 01 September 2016, Machine guarding was not provided to protect operator(s) and other employees from hazard created by the Wilton Band Saw. The band saw had an unused portion of the blade that was not guarded. Employees hand-feeding material were likely to come in contact with the blade and suffer lacerations and/or amputations. JD Norman Industries, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.212(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 394502, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on (date), with respect to a workplace located at 4650 Tiedeman Rd., Brooklyn, OH 44144. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
