29 CFR 1926.651(c)(2): A stairway, ladder, ramp or other safe means of egress was not located in trench excavations that were 4 feet (1.22 m) or more in depth so as to require no more than 25 feet (7.62 m) of lateral travel for employees: a) On June 7, 2016, at 320 Cambridge Rd., Des Plaines IL, employees were not provided with a safe means of egress when working in a trench approximately 5.4 feet deep. b) On June 7, 2016, at 266 Cambridge Rd., Des Plaines IL, employees were not provided with a safe means of egress when working in a trench approximately 6.5 feet deep. John Neri Construction Company, Inc., was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.651(c)(2), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 425233, citation number 2, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on July 6, 2012, with respect to a workplace located at Hickory St. & Washington St. Hinsdale, IL 60521. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
