OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to thermal skin hazards: a) Plant, Light Weight Foam Molding - On or about 03/08/16 the hot oil fittings in the back of presses #5 and #6 and in the two connected hot oil heaters/circulators were not insulated, exposing workers to accidental contact with the hot surfaces. (Nominal temperature: 450 F) b) Plant, Hot Mold Area - On or about 03/08/16 and at times prior thereto the fittings in the dual portable heater connected to Press #16 were not insulated, exposing workers to accidental contact with the hot surfaces (Nominal temperature: 450 F). c) Plant, Light Weight Foam Molding - On or about 03/08/16 and at times prior thereto the door of the portable oil heater/circulator attached to press #10 was broken and did not close, exposing workers to accidental contact with the hot surfaces (Nominal temperature: 450 F). HP Pelzer Automotive Systems, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard or its equivalent standard, OSH Act of 1970 Section 5(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 924666, citation number 1, item number 1, issued on 01/28/2014 and affirmed as a final order on 02/20/2014, with respect to a workplace located at 1884 Warrenton Hwy, Thomson, GA 30824. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
