Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards associated with erecting roof trusses: (a) Condos, third set from Route 98, Fairview, PA; The bracing of the roof trusses was inadequate because the only continuous bracing between the trusses was the spacers between each truss. There was one diagonal brace attached at the peak which extends sideways across the trusses to almost the middle of the roof, on the east side of the condo. There were no lateral braces at all. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD OF ABATEMENT WOULD BE TO FOLLOW THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATION ON ROOF TRUSS ERECTION OR THE BCSI-103 ISSUE FROM THE TRUSS PLATE INSTITUTE. WOODS CONSTRUCTION WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS EQUIVALENT, 5(a)(1), WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 113175269, CITATION NUMBER 1, ITEM NUMBER 1, ISSUED JUNE 29, 2006.
