29 CFR 1910.132(a): Protective equipment, including personal protective equipment for eyes, face, head, and extremities, protective clothing, respiratory devices, and protective shields and barriers, were not provided, used, and maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition wherever it is necessary by reason of hazards of processes or environment, chemical hazards capable of causing injury or impairment in the function of any part of the body through absorption, inhalation or physical contact: a) Powder Coating Department - On February 12, 2016 and April 1, 2106 the employer did not ensure that employees wore protective garments to protect them from the high temperatures of the batch ovens. Employees were entering the batch ovens to pull trailers and racks into and out of the ovens without wearing a aluminized protective coat. The ovens reach temperatures up to 400 degrees. There was one(1) protective coat for the two (2) employees working in the ovens, on or about February 12, 2016 and April 1, 2016. Abatement certification and documentation required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date and method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement. Abatement documentation shall include documents demonstrating that abatement is complete, such as evidence of the purchase or repair of equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement or other written records. BWISE Manufacturing, LLC was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.132(a), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 981293, citation number 1, item number 2(a) and was affirmed as a final order on April 20, 2015, with respect to a workplace located at 1086 Wayne Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
