29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: The employer is failing to protect employees from amputation hazards associated with operating equipment with inadequate machine guarding. This was most recently evident during the inspection of the facilities located at 2500 Old Hadar Rd & 2300 Riverside Blvd. Norfolk, NE; where the employer has exposed employees to inadequately guarded machines in the following instances: a. Employer has employees opening observation door on the Bermatic Fiber Opener machine to clear jams resulting in employee being injured by moving parts. b. Employer has employees operating the two automated fold and sew machines located on the Thermal Pod without proper or adequate guarding. c. Employer has maintenance employee using the drill press located in the maintenance of the main facility without proper or adequate guarding. d. Employer has employees feeding padding into the upper laminator on the main line without providing proper or adequate guarding.
