29 CFR 1910.147(c)(1): The employer did not establish a program consisting of energy control procedures, employee training and periodic inspections to ensure that before any employee performed any servicing or maintenance on a machine or equipment where the unexpected energizing, startup or release of stored energy could occur and cause injury, the machine or equipment was not isolated from the energy source and rendered inoperative: a) The employer did not ensure that a program consisting of energy control procedures, employee training and periodic inspections was established before an employee performs service or maintenance work on a riding lawn mower so that the mower was isolated from the energy source and rendered inoperative. This violation occurred on or about September 11, 2014, in the maintenance shop; where an employee, who was working underneath a riding lawn mower that was being supported by a twin-post lift, metal bar and pipe, was exposed to the unexpected release of stored energy. The mower was not isolated from falling.
