Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: LOCKOUT
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likly to cause death or serious physical harm to employees int that employees were exposed to electric shock, arc and burn hazards. A) R-1 386 Mill (130 inch Mill) at SCR Cabinet Banks - in preparing to perform a dummy load test, employees were exposed to energized electrical parts rated at 700 volt AC while connecting test lead cables to 700 volt DC posts located within an inch of the AC posts and cables, on or about July 19, 1990. Feasible and acceptable abatement methods, among others, is to retrain supervisors and technical personnel acting as supervisors in using the lockout/tagout procedures and reiterate to them that they have the responsibility to see that lockout/tagout procedures are to be followed.
