Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard in excess of sixteen feet: (a) On or about 2-25-93 employees of Centric/Jones Constructors were installing insulated concrete blankets over the top of a sheer wall located directly in front of the Holiday Inn Convention center while standing on top of the sheer wall, employees were exposed to a fall hazard in excess of thirteen feet in that the belts and lanyard they were wearing were not connected to anything that would have prevented a fall. Centric/Jones was previously cited two other times for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard or its equivalent, 29 CFR Section 5(a)(1) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 101219947, citation number 2, item number 1, issued on 6-17-91.
