Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an increased risk of developing CTD from tasks that they were performing and engineering and administrative controls were not implemented: The employee in department 25, group 17, job 05, shift 01, #1 BRK CLIP SECURE who repeatedly performs tasks which require various ergonomic stresses such as, but not limited to, ulnar deviation, wrist extension, forearm rotation, excessive reaching, and shoulder abduction which are likely to result in cumulative trauma disorders. Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard are: 1) Alter tool design to allow for a more neutral wrist posture. 2) Alter task requirement to reduce number of exertions per car. 3) Change angles of attachment within cars.
