Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an increased risk of developing CTD from tasks that they were performing and engineering and administrative controls were not implemented: The employee in department 25, group 07, job 44, shift 01, FLYWHEEL COVERS who repeatedly performs tasks which require various ergonomic stresses such as, but not limited to, wrist extension,ulnar deviation and tool vibration which are likely to result in cumulative trauma disorders. On or about 2-15-90. Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard are: 1) Pre-thread holes to reduce the force requirement. 2) Lower worker height to allow for more neutral postures and exert force more effectively. 3) Maintain tool to minimize tool vibration.
