Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an increased risk of developing CTD from tasks that they were performing and engineering and administrative controls were not implemented: The employee in department 25, group 05, job 24, shift 02, RADIATOR INSTALL who repeatedly performs tasks which require various ergonomic stresses such as, but not limited to, heavy lifting, wrist extension, and ulnar deviation which are likely to result in cumulative trauma disorders. On or about 2-15-90. Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard are: 1) Use a lighter weight, lower torque tool. 2) Place tool in convenient location so that worker won't carry tool and radiator at the same time. 3) Alter tool design/shape to keep wrist in as neutral a posture as possible.
