Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an increased risk of developing CTD from tasks that they were performing and engineering and administrative controls were not implemented: The first of three employees in department 17, group 28, job 44, shift 01, R/S DOOR PAPER INSTALL who repeatedly performs tasks which require various ergonomic stresses such as, but not limited to, hyperextended wrist position with force and some rotation, which are likely to result in cumulative trauma disorders. On or about 2-14-90. Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard are: 1) Establish worker height parameters to reduce reach or adjust work height to worker so that work is done between waist and shoulder height. 2) Alter hand tool to have angled handle so wrist is held in neutral position. 3) Require use of hand tool.
