Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an increased risk of developing CTD from tasks that they were performing and engineering and administrative controls were not implemented: The employee in department 17, group 20, job 18, shift 01, WIPER MOTOR SECURE who repeatedly performs tasks which require various ergonomic stresses such as, but not limited to, ulnar deviation and shoulder abudction which are likely to result in cumulative trauma disorders. On or about 2-13-90. Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard are: 1) Operate tool left handed to eliminate harmful shoulder abduction. 2) Alter tool handle shape to eliminate most of wrist deviations. 3) Use alternative methods for holding tool.
