Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an increased risk of developing CTD from tasks that they were performing and engineering and administrative controls were not implemented: The employee in department 17, group 16, job 25, shift 02, UNDERHOOD LIGHT who repeatedly performs tasks which require various ergonomic stresses such as, but not limited to, wrist flexion and extension, ulnar deviation, forearm rotation, shoulder abduction, and awkward back and neck postures which are likely to result in cumulative trauma disorders. On or about 2-13-90. Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard are: 1) Reduce task demands. 2) Provide alternate tools or adapters for use on different auto models. 3) Where lights must be attached to hoods, attach light fixtures before hood installed to car.
