Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an increased risk of developing CTD from tasks that they were performing and engineering and administrative controls were not implemented: The employee in department 17, group 10, job 33, shift 01, MOLDING INSTALL (BX2/B84) who repeatedly performs tasks which require various ergonomic stresses such as, but not limited to, wrist flexion and extension, and ulnar deviation along with stooped postures which are likely to result in cumualtive trauma disorders. On or about 2-13-90. Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard are: 1) Find alternate ways to attach molding. 2) Establish optimal work heights for side molding and fender molding attachment jobs and treat each job separately and accordingly.
