Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an increased risk of developing CTD from tasks that they were performing and engineering and administrative controls were not implemented: The employee in department 17, group 10, job 15, shift 01, VIN PLATE INSTALL who repeatedly performs tasks which require various ergonomic stresses such as, but not limited to, excessive forward reaches, shoulder abduction and ulnar deviation while exerting forces which are likely to result in cumualtive trauma disorders. On or about 2-13-90. Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard are: 1) Use of a right angle tool. 2) Use of a hammer instead of the back end of the tool for hammering tasks.
