Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an increased risk of developing CTD from tasks that they were performing and engineering and administrative controls were not implemented: The employee in department 17, group 04, job 52, shift 02, SEAT TRACK TIE-DOWN-EAST who repeatedly performs tasks which require various ergonomic stresses such as, but not limited to, wrist radial and ulnar deviation, wrist flexion, and shoulder abduction which are likely to result in cumulative trauma disorders. On or about 11-8-89. Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard are: 1) Alter the tool design. 2) Train workers in the best method of task performance for their specific task.
