Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to amputation/crushing of hands/fingers: a) 17th Street Building, Trunk room - the Fallington press brake #16 had an unguarded foot tripping pedal mechanism. Observed 03/21/95; 03/22/95 & 06/22/95. ABATEMENT NOTE: One means of abatement would be to guard the foot pedals.nt
