Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an increased risk of developing CTD from tasks that they were performing and engineering and administrative controls were not implemented: The first of four employees in department 17, group 04, job 16, shift 02, SEAT BACK BUILD who repeatedly performs tasks which require various ergonomic stresses such as, but not limited to, forceful pinching, ulnar deviation, and shoulder abduction which are likely to result in cumulative trauma disorders. Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard are: 1) Use of a foam cushion presser. 2) Alter cushion orientation to a nearly horizontal position. 3) Replace ordinary scissors with a tremolo type tool. 4) Alter work height.
