Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 045C Hazard: REFINERY
29 CFR 1910.1200(g)(2)(iii): Each material safety data sheet did not contain the physical hazards of the hazardous chemical, including the potential for fire, e xplosion, and reactivity: The employer violated this standard on or about Decemb er 3, 2010 when it was noted that the Calumet MSDS for Product Hydrogen includes conflicting and incorrect flammability information. The writing says "Explosion Hazard. Highly Flammable Gas," but the NFPA diamond graphic has a zero in the f ire hazard block. This exposes employees to fire and explosion hazards. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19(d), within 10 days of the abatement date, the employer must s ubmit an abatement plan describing the actions it is taking to ensure that the M aterial Safety Data Sheets accurately indicate the hazards of the chemical they reference.
