29 CFR 1910.215(a)(1): Machine guarding. Abrasive wheels shall be used only on machines provided with safety guards as defined in the following paragraphs of this section, except: a) Kill Plant - On or about September 18, 2012 abrasive wheel on the RKSII Rotary Knife Sharpener located in the maintenance shop and used by maintenance employees to sharpen the cutter blades for the kill machine lacked guarding exposing employees to the hazard of being struck by flying abrasives. The abrasive wheels are approximately 2 feet away from the on/off switch.
