29 CFR 1910.212(a)(5): Exposure of blades. When the periphery of the blades of a fan is less than seven (7) feet above the floor or working level, the blades shall be guarded. The guard shall have openings no larger than one-half (1/2) inch. a) Kill Plant - On or about September 18, 2012 a 42 inch box floor fan used to circulate air in the changing room had a guard with opening greater than one-half inch and blades within two and one-half inches of the guard exposing employees to the hazard of being struck by the fan blades.
