29 CFR 1910.213(i)(3): Feed rolls of band resaws were not protected with a suitable guard to prevent the hands of the operator from coming in contact with the in-running rolls at any point. The guard shall be constructed of heavy material, preferably metal, and the edge of the guard shall come to within three-eighths inch of the plane formed by the inside face of the feed roll in contact with the stock being cut. a) Band Saw in Lab Closet; On or about August 22, 2023, and at times prior, the employer exposed employees to laceration hazards, in that the Ryobi band saw used by employees to collect samples for laboratory testing did not contain a guard around the feed rolls.
