Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 027 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. (a) Cook Plant - On or about September 19, 2012 three hydraulic chicken vat dumpers in raw receiving did not have guarding exposing employees to a struck by hazard. (b) Cook Plant - On or about September 19, 2012 four rotating kick out/pigtails on line 1 and 2 in evisceration did not have guarding exposing employees to a struck by hazard. (c) Kill Plant - On or about September 20, 2012 sanitation employee was exposed to the hazard of being entangled in a rotating screw auger while standing in a pit dumping chicken offal. (d) Cook Plant - On or about September 9, 2012 the end portion of the big auger was not guarded exposing employees to the hazard of being entangled in a rotating screw auger.
