29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv)[A]: The employer did not ensure that flexible cords and cables were not used as a substitute for the fixed wiring of a structure. Employer does not ensure that flexible cords are not used in lieu of fixed wiring for a structure. On or about February 15, 2012 and times prior thereto the fixed oil drain tank in the north engine room is powered via an extension cord. The cord lays on the floor adjacent to the tank and presents a trip hazard to employees. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19 within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that extension cords are not used in lieu of permanent wiring for a fixed structure.
