Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 024B Hazard: REFINERY
29 CFR 1910.305(b)(1)(ii): Unused openings in cabinets, boxes, and fittings were not effectively closed: ALON USA, LP, 200 Refinery Road, Big Spring, TX. The employer does not ensure unused openings were effectively closed. This violation was observed on or about April 15, 2009 in the following instance: a)An electric panel LPA located in the #1 Sulfur Recovery Unit panel rack was observed with an unused opening not covered. The unused opening was in the bottom section of the electric panel. b)An electric disconnect located on a utility pole in the Southside by the T-53 CC Tank was observed with an unused opening not covered. The unused opening was in the bottom section of the disconnect box. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that unused openings in electric panels are effectively closed.vely
