Compressed air shall not be used for cleaning purposes except where reduced to less than 30 p.s.i. and then only with effective chip guarding and personal protective equipment. 29 CFR 1910.1024(h)(3)(ii): The employer did not ensure that beryllium was not removed from beryllium-contaminated personal protective clothing and equipment by blowing, shaking or any other means that dispersed beryllium into the air: a) On February 28, 2024, in the inside blasting building, employees used compressed air to remove dust containing beryllium from contaminated personal protective clothing.
