29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc.: At a facility located at 502 E. Linden Street in Abbotsford, WI; the employer did not provide machine guarding to protect operators and other employees in the machine areas from hazards, such but not limited to: d) On or about January 25, 2023, in the Forming 2 area on the Double D1 (DD1) line and in the Forming 3 area on the Double D2 (DD2) line, the sausage link forming equipment (linker) was not guarded to prevent employees from coming into contact with the pneumatically driven knives of the linker equipment. The Abbyland Foods Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard 1910.212(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1471711, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on March 9, 2021, with respect to a workplace located at 502 E. Linden St., Abbotsford, WI 54405.
