29 CFR 1910.184(f)(5)(i): Wire rope sling(s) that had ten or more randomly distributed broken wires in one rope lay, or five or more broken wires in one strand in one rope lay, were not immediately removed from service: On or about March 23, 2018, at the Terex mobile crane, wire rope slings had five or more broken strands in one rope lay. The wire rope sling was being used to lift tanks that weigh approximately 8,300 pounds exposing employees to the hazard of being struck by a falling tank.
