29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv)(A): Flexible cords and/or cables were used as a substitute for the fixed wiring of a structure. On or about 5/27/15, in the production areas of the sawmill, the employer used temporary electrical extension cords in lieu of permanent wiring. Instances included: 1 Gang Saw area damaged electrical extension cord powering light ABATED 2 Log Infeed Area used for fan 3 Debarker Electrical Area electrical extension cord used for light ABATED 4 At Separator Platform Area- used to power light for heat so as to keep water out of airline ABATED 5 Trim Saw Platform cords used for heater ABATED 6 Sorter Platform cord used for light In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
