29 CFR 1910.303(b)(2): Listed or labeled electrical equipment was not used or in stalled in accordance with instructions included in the listing or labeling: The employer does not ensure that explosion-proof cans are maintained in accordance with the listing and labeling instructions for a Class 1 Division 2 location. T wo 230-volt explosion-proof cans, (T121793-50 and T122193-31) that energize the east and west pumps of Lane Number 7 are missing 18 bolts. These pumps pump diesel and crude oil. Crude oil contains flammable components and is therefore a Class I liquid. Three bolts are twisted off from can T122193-31 and 15 bolts are completely missing from can T1 21793-50. This violation was observed on or about May 19, 2010 and the condition exposed employees to a fire hazard should vapors travel to these sources of ign ition. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation that it is in compliance w ith the standard, including describing the steps it is taking to ensure employee s are not exposed to this fire hazard. One method of abatement among others is t o replace the bolts and torque them down to specifications.
