Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing injuries in the event of crane failure when lifting and lowering loads throughout the shop: (a)Shop Area - Robbin Myers 5 ton underhung crane. Employees were exposed to crushing injuries due to potential hazards such as, but not limited to, crane parts that can become worn, cracked, or distorted and have not been inspected, on or about February 5, 2009. (b)Shop Area - Robbin Myers 5 ton underhung crane. Employees were exposed to crushing injuries due to potential hazards such as, but not limited to, crane parts that can become worn, cracked, or distorted and have not been inspected, on or about February 5, 2009. NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to conduct inspections prior to initial use after installation to insure compliance with the provisions of the standard, as specified by section 11.2.1.1 of the American National Standard, ANSI B30.11-1973, "Monorail Systems and Underhung Cranes". ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM
