29 CFR 1910.215(b)(9): The distance between the abrasive wheel periphery(s) and the adjustable tongue or the end of the safety guard peripheral member at the top exceeded one fourth inch: The employer is failing to protect employees from struck-by hazards while engaged in grinding activities. This was most recently documented on or about February 7, 2017 at the Airosol Company, Inc., located at 1206 Illinois Street in Neodesha, Kansas. The company failed to ensure that the distance from the abrasive wheel to the adjustable tongue guard of the Tri Star 10" bench grinder Model #BG-10 located in the Maintenance Shop was found to be approximately 0.5 inch. 29 CFR 1903.19(c)(1) requires certification that the abatement of the above violation is complete.
