29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv)(E): Unless specifically permitted otherwise in paragraph (g)(1)(ii) of this section, flexible cords and cables may not be used: Where concealed behind building walls, ceilings, or floors. a) Stateroom 7 - On or about July 20, 2022, and times prior thereto, a 14 AWG flexible cord painted white was observed running along the walls and was concealed behind the wood bunk assembly installed on the wall, exposing employees to electrical and fire hazards. b) Stateroom 9 - On or about July 20, 2022, and times prior thereto, a flexible cord used for power supply to outlet receptacles was observed running into a hole opening behind wall of storage compartment next to bunk space and was concealed until observed exit at the back of the storage unit at the head of the top bunk, exposing employees to electrical and fire hazards. c) Main Deck/Galley - On or about October 25, 2022, and times prior thereto, and times prior thereto, the employer had installed and used flexible cables and cords sourced from control panels in the wheelhouse underneath the main decking to provide power to lower levels, exposing employees to electrical and fire hazards.
