29 CFR 1910.157(e)(2): Portable fire extinguishers were not visually inspected a t least monthly: The fire extinguisher inspection program implemented by the emp loyer does not include all portable fire extinguishers. Employees who are requir ed to use the extinguishers are exposed to fire and explosion hazards as a resul t of flames that may spread rapidly from attempting to use defective equipment. This violation was observed in the Platformer Unit on or about May 05, 2010. The following equipment has not been inspected: A.Ansul Model LR-30-D Fire Extingui sher located at the top of the Number 1 Platformer Separator does not have an in spection tag. B.Ansul Model LR-30-D Fire Extinguisher located near the Number 2 Platformer Sta bilizer Overhead Accumulator indicates it was last inspected in 2004. Pursuant t o 29 CFR 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, th e employer must submit documentation that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps it is taking to ensure to this fire hazard. One abatement method among others is to map the locations of all fire extinguishers and inspect the equipment as required.
