29 CFR 1910.1000(a)(2): Employee exposure to a substance listed in Table Z-1 exceeded the 8 hour Time Weighted Average for that substance: (a)Hill Air Force Base, at 7290 Weiner Street, Hill Air Force Base, UT: On 3/3/11, Hill Air Force Base did not ensure that employee exposure to a substance listed in Table Z-1 did not exceed the 8 hour Time Weighted Average for that substance. One employee abrasively blasted generators and small parts in Building 843B1. This process generated Particulates Not Otherwise Classified (iron oxide total dust). On 3/3/11 one employee was exposed to iron oxide total dust at a concentration greater than the 8 hour Time Weighted Average (TWA) Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 15.00 mg/m3. The employee was exposed to iron oxide total dust at a concentration of 1373.07 mg/m3 as an 8 hour TWA. This is 91.54 times the PEL. Air monitoring was conducted for 265 minutes. (b)Hill Air Force Base, at 7290 Weiner Street, Hill Air Force Base, UT: On 3/3/11, Hill Air Force Base did not ensure that employee exposure to a substance listed in Table Z-1 did not exceed the 8 hour Time Weighted Average for that substance. One employee abrasively blasted generators and small parts in Building 843B1. This process generated copper dust. On 3/3/11 one employee was exposed to copper dust at a concentration greater than the 8 hour Time Weighted Average (TWA) Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 1.00 mg/m3. The employee was exposed to copper dust at a concentration of 1.578 mg/m3 as an 8 hour TWA. This is 1.58 times the PEL. Air monitoring was conducted for 265 minutes.
