Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 014C Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): The employer did not provide employees with effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment, and whenever a new chemical hazard was introduced into their work area. Chemical-specific information was not always available through labels and safety data sheets. On or about October 7, 2014, the employer did not provide employees with effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area. Employees were using coatings containing chemicals such as, but not limited to n-Butyl Acetate at concentrations of 10-20%, xylene at concentrations of 5.4%, Toluene at concentrations of 15-65%, and Acetone in concentrations of 10-55%. Employees were also using blast media, Crystalline Silica in the form of Quartz. This exposed employees to gas, vapor, and dust hazards.
