Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:04/13/10 Location:Quality Control Lab in Control Building Condition:Employees used corrosive chemicals such as sulfuric, nitric, and hydrochloric acid to perform various tests that helped to measure water quality, without being provided with an eyewash station that was capable of providing at least 15 minutes of continuous flushing water. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to comply with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z358.1, "Emergency Eye Wash and Shower Equipment."
