Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 014 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Machine guarding was not provided to protect operator(s) and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. a) This violation was observed on or about April 17, 2023, when the 700-ton Pacific hydraulic press is equipped with a non-functioning light curtain and no other protective devices. b) This violation was observed on or about April 24, 2023, where a HYD-MECH band saw was not equipped with guards on the unused portion of the blade. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation describing the steps taken to ensure machine guarding is provided to protect operator(s) and other employees from hazard(s) created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks.
