29 CFR 1926.760(a)(1): Each employee engaged in a steel erection activity who is on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge more than 15 feet (4.6 m) above a lower level was not protected from fall hazards by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, positioning device systems, or fall restraint systems: Roof: Employees removing and replacing metal roof panels were not protected from falling greater than forty (40) feet to the concrete floor or ground below: a) Roof - Employees were exposed to fall hazards of greater than forty (40) feet while walking to and from the work area from the aerial lift where fall protection was not used. b) Roof - Employees were exposed to fall hazards of greater than forty (40) feet while walking back and forth across the exposed purlins between the old panel side and the new panel side where fall protection was not used. c) Roof - Employees were exposed to fall hazards of greater than forty (40) feet while removing damaged roof panels and panel clips without fall protection.
